Some great looking gardens happening this summer.

I have been taking in zukes and crooknecks all summer.
    Spiralizing/frying w/onion /garlic, freeze in containers.
    Anybody else spiralize?
When frozen, vacuum bagging and back to the freezer.
    Tomatoes are finally coming ripe.
Had a double tomato/cheese samich for lunch. ...yummmmy.
Brought in a bag full of romas and did my first batch of InstantPot sauce.
    Love the InstantPot.
Put 8 spaghetti squash in the freezer.
I row of beets in the freezer......3 rows to go.
Best garden I have had in years.

Second picking. As per the IP site, do NOT remove tomato peels.
...say what?? Ok....I'm an out of the box kind of guy.

Just cut a bit of the stem end off and cut them in half long ways.
A knob and half of garlic, two purple onions, seasoning and pepper.
Pressured on high for 12min. When it was done, I added fresh
Thai basil from the garden. Hit it w/the boat motor and bada bing-
bada bung.....smooth as silk. Peels just disappeared.

Threw in a pound of Italian sausage, precooked.
Let it cook on saute for 20min to cook off some water.

YIKES....... the Thai basil has just a hint of anise and the sausage
has fennel seed in it. This is going to be some fine eating this winter.
Spread over some spaghetti squash sitting by the wood stove.

    I'll have to try that.
I've always blanched or borrowed a food mill.

I'm thinking the IP and the boat motor
are a match made in heaven for
    "cream" soups......without the cream.

    2018 Garden reflections

I don't remember who it was here that told me to plant my tomatoes w/the roots
oriented to the south. I did that. Best tomatoes I have had in years. Thanks!

Prune or free range? Prune....this is a no brainer. ....'nough said.

    IMG_8286.JPG

Black visqueen ground cover on some of the tomatoes did not seem to make any difference.....at all.
    PITA for no reason.

I think one reason for success was the compost I got out of my tumbler.

So thankful for the ditch water. It has been a hot summer.
I flood watered everything, every other day.
Should have taken some pics before the squash started to turn...…

Live and learn. Best garden I have had in years.
    Best since I came home.
Lots of ideas to improve next year.
Can't help but think my Dad was watching over it....and me.

I prefer chunky, so just dice and cook. If too chunky, then I take a portion and blend it and add it back into the mixture. But it's your food, you make it how you want it.

    I can't find the post.
I think it was for heat.

...maybe it is to pick up the magnetic waves
generated by the vortexs in Sadona, AZ.

1 year does not a conclusion make....

    o_O

Well, at least they didn't advise tin foil caps for the plants.
    :bug:
    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

    Either way, nice harvest.

How did you actually align the roots southward?

    So true.

I thought about going a different direction, but.
    :zip:

    No need for such silliness.

I wanted to keep it organic, so I went w/magnetic north.
I think plants only feel the wave....care nothing about a point in space. :smoke:

I dug a trench north to south.
Positioned the root end to the south,
    stem/plant to the north end.

IMG_7066.JPG IMG_7067.JPG IMG_7069.JPG This years garden has been tough for us. I had to replant pumpkins in early July at about the time they should be baseball size.
A couple weeks ago I finally got a few to set and I've been babying them in hopes to have some pickers before frost. Yesterday I went in to water them and came across this. That pumpkin is about 10".
What kind of rabbit takes that kind of bite?

The kind that bark. A dog or coyote thought he might try a piece of that spectacular fruit.

I was thinking maybe a bear also, just for a little excitement.
We have a few around here and I have friend up north that looses a few pumpkins now and again to the bears

    Great garden pics!

Here's some of mine. It's doing great at the moment. All the rain has kept the soil very wet. It's somewhat raised (rr ties) so it drains good enough.

Can anyone tell me what kind of grape these are? Hope it's seedless!
