I might try raised beds to begin with, I have not had a garden about 30 years so am sorrta clueless.
I have an area to grow indoors when I get it ready, maybe hydroponics for a small area.

    Same here oldspark.
Many years since I had a garden, but started back up last year with 3 raised beds.
I plan to do more this year.
We put down a bunch of newspaper and leaves in a good chunk of the garden to hopefully keep the weeds down.
More of that will be happening this year too.

The mushroom kit seems to be working. I am on to the tent stage now.

Here is a thought - Once the first batch is established I am going to get rid of the box and put it in a larger plastic container surrounded by a mini hugel bed. A hugel pot. They like wood, right? I will give them wood. Lol. I may mess up the whole process but it is worth a try.

Finally got to get into the garden today. Disked up the compost pile that was spread out on the garden in the fall. Hopefully get it tilled up this afternoon and get some Tators and onions put out tomorrow....

    Fantastic.
I can't wait to get in the garden, but it'll be a couple minutes before the foot of snow out there goes bye-bye.
More pics will keep me motivated......:D

Yanked out about 20 grape vines ( some kinds of champagne grape that tasted good but weren't doing too well ), all the poles and wires. Big old hostas removed to grow greens for an african spurred tortoise.
    100 mg ibuprofen each.

I've been seriously thinking of starting some stuff inside, but don't have a good handle on when I can move 'em out to the garden.
I need to take a look at the raised beds to see if they've lost much snow yet.
They tend to heat up quicker than the ground. Might be close to doing the broccoli.....

You aren't kidding! This year is unlike any other. I started about a dozen tomato and pepper plants inside. That is it. They make it, then they make it. If they don't, then they don't. I am cutting way back compared to last year. I might buy a couple plants in May. Currently, the warm up will be coming too late. Heck, I am supposed to get snow this week. On the plus side, I will have plenty of lettuce again.

I was looking forward to my garden, but I have dad such a set back, I doubt I'll do much beyond a few tomatoes, cukes, and summer squash. Darn ice and falling has me rethinking all our plans for the spring and summer. I have a lot of perennials. I didn't rake the leaves out last fall so they will be mulched well which should hold back some weeds. The down side is all the hiding places for snails and slugs. I very seldom use chemicals for insect control.

Got the garden tilled up on Sunday afternoon. Then proceeded to get 3 - 80' rows of onions and a short section of potato. Then today we got another round of snow flurries... Ol' Mother Nature just doesn't want give into spring yet....
