Habaneros are coming in full force. I picked probably 2 dozen during the last 2 weeks from only 2 plants. Plenty more on the plants too. Looks like the peppers are enjoying my combination of wood ash and chicken waste/composted wood chips.

Mine aren't changing color yet ( those that are big enough to) but man oh man they are full of blossoms. If there is time for all the current blossoms to mature I'm gonna be swimming in habaneros.
Maybe I'll have enough to make some potent pepper spray to f&ck with the deer.

Nice. Habaneros are definitely heavy producers. There’s still plenty of season left for you to get a huge flush of peppers too. In 2010 I had 4 Habanero plants that produced like crazy right up until the first frost. I oven dried and ground up most of the peppers from that year. Actually I still have 2 mason jars full of flakes from that season.

A few minutes picking after supper before it got dark.
I think it is the CFL overhead that makes some of the wax beans look green.

My sister called, looking for kale. The kale is not looking good from the heat, but I had 6 swiss chard plants that needed pruning way back.
    Surprisingly, she took it all.

Yeah there's only so many a person can eat (or give away) Last year I ended up freezing several one gallon bags full of hot peppers. I made fermented hot sauce, hot pepper jelly, and have been slowly going through them one at a time when I make a batch of chili. For the hot peppers that are actually edible, like jalapenos and tabascos, pickling them makes for a nice snack.

LOL, I still have a bag of red and a bag of orange habaneros in the freezer from, like, 5 years ago, taking up valuable space. Thawing, dehydrating and pulverizing them has been on the 'to do' list for some time.
I started some habanero plants (and some poblano) for someone else figuring I'd keep one or two for myself and his garden project fell thru, so I now have 8 fully loaded orange habanero plants growing in my garden.
My nephew in Virginia is into growing those super hot peppers and he makes his own hot sauces. Too hot for me.

I’ve had it once a few years back, great stuff  I should look into making some myself considering I definitely have enough habaneros to work with.

    Picked a basket of peppers.
The bell peppers I picked just because they were big and a couple were at least starting to turn color and I had a few broken branches courtesy Henri.
A few anaheim peppers, 1 banana pepper and the orange and yellow jalapeno are starting to turn their ripe color(s).

I have beans and tomatoes to pick but it's already hot and super muggy out there under the sun. I'll wait for afternoon shade.

They were Bonney brand from Ace hardware this year.
(Last year a couple plants (started from seed) got fubarred right after we planted them in the garden, So Miss July went to ace and got a couple plants. They really turrned out great, so we thought we'd just buy the plants this year.)

Finally, my no-heat habanero are starting to ripen.
No luck finding volunteers to test for heat.

Just two plants growing in a rubbermaid action packer.
I might be able to bring these in during the Winter if they'll survive in the basement. Never tried over-wintering a pepper.

Had a good haul from the garden today. Complete with some massive radishes that I missed this past spring. The other stuff is a long pumpkin pie pumpkin, Belgian white carrots, (not sure what the orange one is) and a small luffa.
