Miss July harvested her garlic a couple weeks ago and put it in the garage to dry. Bulbs were very nice. Getting some beet also.
Got my first zuke harvest the other day. Or maybe I should say my daughter's first. She's going on 2 but aside from occasionally grabbing leaves off plants or picking tomatoes a month early she does pretty well in the garden. She seemed proud of these.
Looks to be pancakes time here soon. Several bushes are looking good. With rain coming over the next week, they should plump up nicely.
For a minute I thought I was looking at Salal bushes and I know they are a west coast plant. Leaves are very similar.
I didn't know pancakes grew on trees bushes! Dang! You got me hungry for pancakes now! They look good!
Picked up the first planting of the fall Cole crops yesterday. Waiting on the ground to dry out so we can get them planted later this week.
It was drier than a camel fart till Monday evening. Got an inch and a half. Need to get the last planting of sweet corn in the ground but now to wet. Supposed to get a deluge Friday.
Can your plant garlic in the fall in a container for harvest in the spring? If so, any special tips you can give me? I've never grown garlic.
Generally you can plant it in the fall to harvest around now.. in the fall, the bulbs start the rooting process so in the spring they are ready to pop up as the last of the snow departs.. the heat will cause them to develop scapes which indicate they are going to seed... save some cloves for the next year and enjoy the rest...
We have both growing in our backyard... still trying to educate the family as to what is what. Wife pulled some blackberries this year thinking they were a weed. At least you’re willing to learn something new!!
We have an invasive black berry. They are really popping up all over the property. We kill all that we can. Here is a pic of their leaves.
