Unfortunately no. They are requiring 75 percent efficiency and that stove is 63 percent

    Subject: Tax credit for 30-NC

Does the 30-NC meet the efficiency requirement for the $300 tax credit? I bought one from Home Depot in September, and need confirmation before I do my taxes.

Thanks again Huntindog1 for posting the info, I would have missed it otherwise.

I'm taking the credit anyway. If they want to waste their time chasing me around for $300 bucks let them. Plus I have also bought other units and not taken the credit so there is the back up plan. Doubt they really even check. If the IRS comes knocking on your door I think you have more than a $300 dollar problem. Just a hunch.

    Dave,
Just do it and take the tongue lashing. That's what I did on the pellet stoves last fall. Didn't even tell her and just came home with them. Not highly recommended but an option. Did the same thing with a couple of motorcycles. The dog house only lasts so long. LOL! Boys will be boys no matter how old.

Remind me Dave, will this replace the one in the basement or a new install. I could be wrong, did 99lbs say the current one was ugly when you brought it home? And don't forget how it grew on her enough that you two are now down there playing cards and enjoying the fire!

I would get it with the intention of it being a replacement for the drolet in the basement.

Where I would run into "resistance" is that the size is significantly larger; slightly protruding into a walkway (about 16") of about 36" wide. I could turn it sideways, but then what fun would that be with a stove in the room turned sideways?
99 is a big fan of wood heat in the basement and does spend more time down in the Dave cave (not sure if thats a good thing, either).
May take a bit more schmoozing on my part.

Now that could be a double edged sword right there. I find it ironic how they get ticked about a good heat choice or resist the possibility at first and then over run the place once it is toasty. I've experienced that here. For some reason they see it differently when cash is involved probably because of the threat of that cuts into the thought of how they want to spend the money. LOL! All I can say is frequently and kindly remind them how they were not too keen on that thing of heat and beauty. I did. It shuts her up fast too.
