The historic cold snap that has frozen Texas this week with brutal winter weather and brought snow all the way to beaches along the Gulf of Mexico is also bringing headaches for citrus growers at the southern tip of the state. I remember back in the early 90s seeing pictures of all the citrus groves in Florida covered in ice. They were intentionally spraying the trees with water so the ice would insulate the fruit from the cold, salvaging a good portion of the crop.
