I seem to recall a few others doing this in the past, but does any one have design recommendations for converting and old fuel oil barrel into a grill/ smoker. I might start on the project this weekend, so looking for input.

I'm sure you could come up with something. Have you got access to a used oil barrel? Have a way to cut steel?

Saw the barrel on the other thread you started. Looks like it will be fairly big. Have you got any ideas yet on what your gonna do with it?

I think I'm going to turn it on its side, cut it just about in half, a little lower in the front. Try to make the grate so it can pull out for easier fire tending. Maybe a rotisserie for the rabbits!

I'm sure he will be along shortly-- he's the soul of the smokehouse.
