If you grew up in Michigan it's never been -20's and -30's regularly! -30's would be record lows for most places in the lower. I'm not sure where you're at exactly but here is some historic data for the Saginaw area. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/History.aspx?location=USMI0739

The snow seemed deeper because you were shorter.

Yes it was deeper we measured with a yard stick growing up. As for the cold it was most certainly colder with consisting wind chills -20 to -30 ranges. I should probably clarified the wind chill part. To me if it's wind chills of (- whatever ) that's the temp not what the gauge says. It also varies by where you live in this state a blanket statement like that is just plain stupid!

Sorry bud! I don't mean to be a jerk sometimes it just comes out of my head through my fingers right or wrong in the approach. I have a lot of respect for you and anybody Dennis respects deserves to have that honor from others too.

I gotta ask, why would someone pay $4.17 per gallon for heating oil when you can get diesel in NJ for about $3.60 a gallon and run the furnace/boiler on that on the rare occasion that you use it? Isn't heating oil and diesel virtually the same product (with the exception of the dye in the heating oil) now that it's all a low sulfur product? I understand paying for the convenience, but I'm also all about saving a buck or two when I can. 5 Gallon diesel cans cost about $17 and you could save about $3 every time you fill one up.

No need Pete, my skin is thick enough for some good poking! I'm a pretty sarcastic guy and that doesn't always translate well to the internet world. :D

We're at $3.80 a gallon for heating oil. Still obscene!

Starting to rain and it's 28° on my outdoor thermometer. Got down to single digits overnight. Ice is forming on the walkway. We don't need this on the trees.
