My buddy who owns a tree service has entered into a deal with me where when I help him fell and buck the trees, I keep the wood. Not a bad deal. He makes money, and I'm free labor, and I end up with a valuable commodity. That and I got all these new Oregon chains to play with. Tomorrow morning, we are taking down a cherry tree and a big oak limb.
Should have some tomorrow. I like it because he has the equipment to bring the wood to me, and he helps buck the wood after the tree is down.
It's working real nice. I'm getting sharp chains...that's what you want. I'm not sure that I'm doing it correctly...minimizing the amount of cutter taken off each time, but that will be a learning experience I suppose. Right now, I have 3 new in the box chains for my 441, so I won't break out the sharpener for a few weeks anyway.

Today's score was a mix of ash, a little black oak, and cherry. It's hard to tell the way I've mounded it, but I bet there's somewhere approaching a cord in this pile. Spent a few hours cutting and hauling, but this is about 1 cold month's worth of firewood for me. That cherry cuts nice and easy. The ash was dead standing thanks to the emerald ash borer. There was another 2 ash trees we could have taken down, but I needed to do other things today as well.
Cant remember exactly but I know I've seen it 50+ times since the first time in the late 70's. I can spot the occasional co-worker & a couple family members who are as familiar with it as I am - soon as I start spouting random quotes (you know what I'm talking about) they start right in after me.Others near by either "get it" by or they stand there with a look on their face like "What in the world are they talking about? "
I ran my friend's 200T and my 192 to compare today. I noticed the 200T had a little more weight and a little more power, but not like going from a 290 to a 360 in my opinion. I know it's a pro saw, so it has more longevity, but I wasn't all that impressed.
I did run the 290 today, after 9 months with the 441 exclusively. That is a noticeable difference there.
