I came across an ad on the marketplace for free wood just down the highway from me. That was the Ad picture. Figured maybe 2 good loads, and I could back right up to it. From the clearest leaf I could make out on the ground and somewhat of the bark type, I thought I scored some oak. I got there Thursday afternoon, and all that was left was crotches and the big main trunk, about 32 inches. Had to give the saw a workout, and cut a few rounds. Here is what I got, by the way it ended up being maple. Free wood is free heat. Not much, but to me 1 weeks worth of firewood is about 150 bucks not spent on electricity. It all adds up.

You got some nice wood out of it Ive been using CL free section and FB Marketplace to look for wood for a few weeks. It’s hit or miss, the good stuff goes quick. I’ve found a lot of times the owner will tell you a guy called and never showed. Or they came and only took the easy to cut diameter stuff. Most people don’t have big saws, so trunks usually last quite a while on those sites.
From what Ive noticed just south of you. FB and CL crank with free wood spring and summer. Once the weather begins to cool the free wood dries up. Contrary to popular opinion, (many hang up the saws during warm weather) summer is the time to scrounge on social media. Process it in the winter
Nice little grab Pricey! Been there done that myself. Driven by wood and when i go back days later only the big stuff left.
