I have a rick or two of Aspen (popple to some) and as others said it's great wood to start a fire with or get some quick heat going in the mornings.. Dries light as a feather. In fact, I always look for it when starting a fire now. That was nice of him to let you use his splitter. Saves the back on the biguns... I think you will like it and your going to have a bunch of it looking at all those logs.
Home with the second load. I had the truck full early, then stayed and cut and split to get ahead for tomorrow.... Left this for Saturday.....
All the wood is home! My buddy helped me out again this morning and grabbed another load for himself. Here's what I ended up with... Plus this still in the truck. I grabbed a few free pallets at the lumberyard on the way home.... We started splitting it this afternoon, and ran out of day light so we only made one stack so far. I filled in a row. It's 7 ½' x 4' one row deep. This is what's left to split tomorrow..... Plus what's still in the truck
I finished up all the splitting, stacking, and clean up today. My buddy was over and lent a hand. He went home with another ½ a truck load for his help. The driveway is all cleaned up.. And all the stacks are full......
I burn it. However, I do work from home so no problem for me to keep feeding the fire. It isn't for over-nighters that is for sure. I have been clearing the poplar from the property so the oaks under them can start growing.
