Haha not that I'm aware of... I think eventually they'll get wise to it and change the law so that you can only use MAN power or something like that. Until they do, it's fair game
I hunt some public land in south central Michigan, and this is why you can barely walk through most of it. Great hunting ground but a real PIA to navigate, tangled web of downed trees, brush, thorns, and whatnot. And now, I’m sure the foresters are all working from home, further ensuring the “proper” management of our state lands
Yankee Springs. My backyard basically. Just not worth screwing with for my needs. How close are you to Gun Lake?
Not really sure what they’re afraid of! Anybody any seen a piece of property they had a skid loader on dragging trees? I have! I’ve seen it on public ground that was getting logged as well. You’d be hard pressed to cause that much damage with your half ton truck or an atv
Drive vehicle onto public land? Absolutely not, we’ll write you a ticket immediately! We do though have a better spot for you Just off the edge Of that blind corner of the road Where the cars go 55mph. Yeah, that’ll do just fine
LOL, guess I forgot Yankee Springs, because it doesn't have the word state or forest in it. I used to run around there years ago, when buddies family had a place up that way. I'm just west of Kalamazoo, so not too far from from Gun Lake. My family used to rent a place on Gun Lake when I was a kid, so been there a few times, but not in years now. Fortunately, I have access to a pretty big piece of land. The people that own it selectively log it maybe once every 10 years or so, but I have access to take the tops, the dead and blow-downs. It easily provides for me and maybe a dozen other guys, so not a need, was just curious. It does get frustrating, b/c the county has 50-60 acres of vacant woods half a mile behind me. The best firewood falls just past the "No Trespassing - violators will be prosecuted" sign.
Does this include the precut 8’ length logs that have been sitting on state forest land for the last 8 months ??? If so, I know where there is about 100 cord ready.....
