Keep checking Craigslist right now, I've been seeing quite a bit come up around Beavercreek and Dayton. I picked this load up in Enon.

It's all BTU's no matter how you look at it. If the leftover 8" piece were at my house it would go into the shoulder wood pile. All the odd stuff goes in there, along with the punky stuff and small rounds.
Your cord total is definitely well over cord. I would not have taken the trip with just a pickup, waste of time and fuel, it was definitely worth your time and the cost of fuel with the trailer. And for a 45 min ride I would go back for more if it's available to you. Good work!

Took a walk in the woods this morning and found a small Oak split just off the trail.
    Casper had been there.....no doubt.

Good point! I think I will cut it all at 18-20" and leave what's left for shoulder season. I spoke to the guy again yesterday and he's got more ready for me to get next week! I'll post more pics when I get it

I believe the safety valve kicks at around 400lbs in the bucket. I'd eventually
Ike to get a bigger one but it does the job for now

Well I finally got back up there and picked up another load of ash today! Also got a load of hickory and another load of ash from different free CL listings last week! Going to have lots of splitting to do!! :axe:

This should sit me right around 10 cords once I get it all split and restacked!

Great job getting another load of ash. The hickory had to be worth the trip for sure.

    Nice!

That's a crazy amount of wood you got there. Ash and Hickory will make a great combination too. :)

I have a firewood book that I have had for many years that call Ash the "firewood for kings" as it splits easy, drys quickly and burns hot and long. Still remember how it it calls out Ash for being special in many ways.
