Unloaded yesterdays load this morning. Did a little sorting. Rounds to be splits got stacked. Seventh and probably final load today. Bulldozer going when I arrived. Stopped and talked with the guy. He has the contract to grind remnants as he has a recycle/compost company very close be. He let me cut in back while he cleared. During our conversation he asks I wanted wood. Dumb question to ask. He takes in logs from tree services and has a lot extra hanging around. Gonna check it out this week. Not as much as yesterday's load. Could've cut more but I was beat!
Boy, that's a lot of apple. Well done, my friend. Sounds like a good connection to have, maybe you can get some good logs from him and he grinds the rest...
With the loads I've cut I should have close to three cords between cordage, bundle splits and shorts. Hopefully it will bring some good Benjamins in the future. I had to satisfy my curiosity when I left so did a drive by of his yard. Random piles of logs that looked to be many years old. One area I saw some fresh cut wood. Ill check it out this week. Maybe a good source to cut on occasion. Of course it depends on the quality of logs. Like you I'm very picky about what I take. 15 minutes from storage and home.

Well you didn't miss much. It was a lot of work to fill the truck vs. a standard scrounge. I called him yesterday morning and left a message. No reply or text. Ill try again next week.
Stacked the rest of the apple. Total for the score was just over three cords once stacked. Four rows deep, 4x6' stacks. Three other half cords stacks pictured earlier in this thread. Maybe ten percent were primo splits for smoker bundles which were separated out. 2.5+ cords stacked plus nearly a half cord of nuggets and chunklies. Come late fall ill be set for smoker wood for a while

Good point Brad! They have a lot of acreage across the way with more regular trees. Guessing they may switch over to the newer style and tip those over. I’ll be in a better spot once I get that 026 dialed in!
If I were to venture an opinion it'll be 2030 when theyll bulldoze another part. Gives the new plantings a chance to establish themselves and yield fruit. The OP was 2020, recent updates 2025.
