    Nice find!

Cut it short. Drill down the middle. Chip it out.

Not knowing any better, that's how I'd approach it.

Nice find. On some of them there is a nail or spike under the swing hook. Unbolt the hook and see if there is a nail holding the handle in...keeping it from rotating. Might be just behind the hook.

If you can not pull the nail, drill it out with a drill bit but stop as soon as you drill through the head. You should end up with a washer stuck on the drill bit that used to be a nail head. Then just take a punch and tap the nail in a bit further so it clears the metal collar.

Got it out. I just kept drilling with a 7/16ths long drill bit, and whacking on the other end with a big, long bolt. Eventually it came out. My local farm supply store had a handle. I'll paint the steel parts orange at some point, but right now, I'm gonna go cut some farwood.

Found a handle at the local farm supply store yesterday, knocked it in place, and used it for the first time. Works great. The log I was working on was only 8 feet long, but 30" in diameter, and I could roll it over with ease.

When the weather warms up, I'll paint the metal orange so I can't run over it with the tractor while I'm in the woods.

If you paint it white first . Then orange it will be much brighter.

I used it on another tree yesterday. I love this thing. It's SO MUCH easier than trying to lift one end of a 10 foot log, while attempting to kick a piece of cutoff under it so I don't cut into the ground with my saw.

I use mine when unloading sawlogs off my car hauler trailer. I can get an end up high enough to get a skid under it so it will clear the fenders.

I have two of that general design. I left the stand on one for lifting smaller logs of the ground but removed the stand from the other to use as a peavey. I like them both. Glad you got the handle out ok!

Also some wood preservative on the handle. My tools last a lot longer when I keep the wood painted. I like to paint them yellow so I can see them easily.

Usually the bright color paint looks good as you see it when you run it over :DJB

Tell me about it! I somehow managed to run over a shiny, stainless-steel, hand sprayer with my tractor some years ago. I just mashed the top down a little bit--it still sprays, but looks like a drunken R2D2.
