Sounds like it has been lightly used according to the add. Not sure of the year (asked) Comes with 5 chains and a case. No bar length listed (asked for that) No pics so waiting to see if he sends them to my email. He is asking $350, figured if it starts and runs its probably worth it? Any known major issues to look for? I will maybe pull the muffler with his approval and check the piston. I don't have a compression gauge, should this be something I would want to know? Depending on condition It may not matter? Have only bought 1 saw (Rancher 450) and it was brand new. Have been coming across some larger trees that the 450 has been struggling with when the 20" bar is almost buried!! Would like to use this saw for my felling/bucking saw for 18" diameter plus wood and use the 450 as the limber, branch, scrounge saw.
If it is what he says then its a deal. Now I personally have called so.e folks out on the "used 3x or 6x or whatever" when the bar is missing paint of the bottom 20% of the bar and all kinds of debris on it. I tell them both you and I know that saw was used more than 3x so what's your real price. They come off a little and thats the end of it. If they can't tell the truth about how long they have had it (and these saws were not really beat either) then I dont trustuch else they say. And if I can't name the price I want I walk. No big deal to me. I guess my point is make sure its really is "only one year old" or still on first bar or whatever they said to make you think its low use. Also make sure that one year they owned it , it was not on a logging job!!! If on a blogging job but looks cared for then lots probably ok if piston and cyl check out. Most dont take care of them though.
Got the pics last night. Going to pass on it. Miss matched plastic and handle colors, still dirty, and bar paint missing. The case was a mess as well! Signs of not well taken care of to me.
Sounds like ones I used to buy for $200 and take a chance on. Most needed crank bearings or crankshaft kit. I would have more money in them, then what I sold them for using OEM cranks if needed. $400.
I sent a 2171 to TX for $350 plus ship. Dont over pay shop around. There is crazy asking prices everywhere now days.
