"Twenty states may see gas prices below $2 by Christmas, analysts say" This is in our local rag sheet. Can't help but wonder what impact it will have on the price and quantity of wood and pellets. Cost to produce and demand will be impacted. Then there is that convenience thing. Guys would work their backsides off trying to stay ahead. But with that not being the issue, and the btu being nearly equal, it could be a hard year for production outfits. Of course, those of us who want wood heat will have wood heat. Those who don't like burning Dino will not burn Dino. Should be interesting.
If oil and pellets cost the same, or even if oil was marginally higher, I'd go for oil. If natural gas was available here, I couldn't justify hearing with pellets. I'd still burn some wood. Splitting wood is how I take out my after work aggressions, even if it's only a round or two a week.
