Thanks for the prayers everyone. Everything is good here. We watched the FFS do some awsome aerial work into late evening. They were pulling water by helicopter from a nearby lake and setting quite a few back fires. They got it under control late last night. A friend of mine was already at my house spraying things down since he couldn't get home (road closed). Thank God for good friends. We had leaf size pieces of ash and charred pine bark landing here at one point. Still a bit smokey this mornin but all is well. It's time to go fishin!
thanks dennis. It was definitely one of the closest fires we've had in the last few years. Seeing the charred pieces of bark lying in the yard is a scary reminder just how close it was.
First read on this. Just hate uncontrolled burns. That dense vegetation, dry and hot, is a time bomb. You were getting ambers from a mile away. Hard to know what to do with that. maybe metal roofs, and keep the brush line way away from the house. Shows that everyone needs a plan. What to take, where to go etc. Glad you are OK.
