A bored whiz kid with too much time on his hands. A bit long, but I'd be interested to see how 2.0 goes. CNC Chainsaw
As someone who programs CNC machines 6 days a week, I’m really impressed with what this kid was able to accomplish. It’s easy (sort of) to run someone else’s proven software and have the algorithms generate code for you. Developing your own is way beyond my grasp so hats off to him. With all that being said, he could’ve saved himself a TON of aggravation by milling the entire thing with a ball nose tool. No need to write any software either, since robot programming software is readily available. But admittedly, using a chainsaw, engineering it to work in conjunction with the robot, and figuring out how to program it was very impressive.
