My mom gave us a cutting from her gardenia a few years ago. It struggled the first couple years, but looks like it got it's root system growing strong. It has gotten very big and very fragrant.
When I think of gardenias, I think of expensive corsages with only one flower in it. That's the only time I have seen them. You have an expensive flower bush there.
I was away from home for 5 days. I knew both the peonies and the rhodie were going to bust out while I was gone. But, I was was pleasantly surprised becuase everything looked gorgeous when I got back home. I guess I should have way more flower stakes than I do for all the peonies - LOL This is a willow. Those aren't blooms but new foliage. The view from my living room window. Kind of weird because the rhodie is pinker than normal. Usually has a bit more of a purple cast to it (not full purple, just more purple). Maybe I need to fertilizer it. Oh, and I need to take out whatever is growing there in the middle
Case of impatience. When you paste an image(not upload), if you “post reply” before it’s completely uploaded, it leaves out said image.
Small white flowers are on the winter berry bush mixed in with mtn laurel. There's also honeysuckle vines in there. I view them as invasive and will take measures to remove them. I liken them to briars, PI, and bitter sweet.
Mom had them in her garden. We had a dog that would sleep in the center of the bush and snap at all the bumblebees that were in the flowers.
Foxgloves, as biennials, are interesting. Behind the house, along the woodsy perimeter, foxgloves reseed. I've only planted one foxglove back there, in 2018, and it was yellow. Over the years the seeds have produced white, light pink and dark pink offspring (which I am good with). Since they are biennials, foxgloves don't stay in one place, so one needs to be accommodating to its wandering ways. Hmm, when these seed out, I should scatter some in the south garden and see if they produce something (as long as I don't pull the 1st year plants ) Red campion (not rose campion - different thing) is mixed in with the growth back there. I don't know where it came from, but I've had red and white campion back there for a couple of years. With the different form factors of both flowers and foliage (and indeed, different growth habitats), I don't believe it can revert from the rose campion I planted in the sunny, arid rock garden beside the house. I had completely cleared that area back in 2018 - in fact that section used to be a pile of limbs 3-4' tall that wood rats had made one of their homes in (they make several homes in their territory and rotate every couple of months). Pic of when I planted the yellow foxglove and a day lily. The lily has never bloomed I don't think. That is also the old furniture that I had brought from my old house - it is no longer here but I believe a neighbor still has it after she picked it up from the side of a road.
I noticed the other day that my yuccas are sending up some flower stalks. They still have a bit to go before they open up though.
