    Some December color for the Northeners

    A hard freeze will burn the japonica flowers which is typically a spring bloomer.

    Wicked thorns on those. It is amazing how many survive around here. I don't know why anyone would intentionally plant one in their yard.

    I saw a large silver maple downtown the other day that was pushing out buds. :picard: These plants aren't going to like the next cold snap much.

    First time seeing daffodils and red maples blooming in January. First time hearing tree frog love in January. A lot of firsts. Longest mud season. Least amount of wood burned unless February turns out to be a wicked return of winter.
