See, I have jewel weed and hostas all over the place and the deer doesn't eat those, only bugs do that. Even at my last place deer never bothered any of my hostas or other flowering plants. They would lay on my tomato plants, but that is a whole nother thing.
I know others have posted similar pictures, indian pipes I spotted them in the wood yard I don't know of any other significance about them, aside from being cool looking. I've noticed them in other areas of woods.
This is a RoS that was transplanted here 4 years ago. It's about 6.5 ft tall. It was dug up from under the large RoS, that I have. I've given away some, with still a few more to find a new home for, or just dig them up and get rid of them.
Those have been in "abundance" here i NH this year (abundance being a relative term compared to the last several years and not actual numbers). I've seen several pictures of them on a local group, even from people who say they have never had them on their property before. I can hardly wait for another year or two, when the RoS that you gave me should bloom. Put those that you dig up on CL for $15-30. Farm and garden stores are getting $30 for small plants so you should be able to get a good price. Only draw back is that it isn't a name brand or color - but for those that want a nice garden without paying a lot of money for plants will bite. When I started putting in gardens at my current place, I got quite a few shrubs and perennials from CL where people were thinning their gardens or moving and selling some of their plants.
Ever since I've come to understand that these are wild cherries, I'm spotting them in several places around the yard.
We have a lot dropping off the trees now. I could probably stake a tarp out and gather a bunch. Probably make decent jelly when the pits are out.
Mexican asters showing nicely. They aren't very tall, but the colors really pop. New England asters are starting to blossom too. No pics yet.
Them wild asters like to grow where I don't want them. Thus, a weed to me. Daresay, invasive. They pop up everywhere here and are bloomimg.. Pics tomorrow
Some of the last flowers here, are blooming. The flowers are larger than some other hostas. And, the stalks aren't all that long. The flowers also have a sweet scent. Same bed, different angle. I started to overhaul this bed a few months ago. That end will be dealt with, this fall. Some of thos hostas will be dug up and planted elsewhere in the yard, as well as giving some to a friend
Obedient plant that I transplanted from work doing well. Most of the cosmos in the wildflower patch fell over from the TS last week. Just a few lingering flowers. I put the hummingbird feeder back out. I imagine they will be making the journey south in the next few weeks. I have a nice orb weaver spider I'd like to get a pic of, but my phone got wet and fogged the camera lens. I'll have to square that out.
