Not much new going on here. But, what I received from Midwinter a couple of years ago are doing well: Day lilies have really suffered from the dry of last summer and this summer too, bu Molly's day lily is doing just fine. The first echinacea to bloom this year. I have no idea what this is. It is a volunteer outside my planted roadside garden. It's very pretty but knowing my yard, probably something invasive
Mine opened up too! I have those purple things as well. The rabbits and/or woodchuck eats them, fine ...
I did buy more seed packs this spring and cut a bunch of dried flower heads last fall and threw them down.
In my first search I thought you were mistaken since most seem to be low growing. But, the Tall bell flower (Campanula americana) grows up to 5' (the on I have is at least 3'). Mine are at least 3' tall. The pictures at the link show the leaves, and they are really close. The flowers are close too. I'll take your suggestion and from now until proven differently I'll call them bell flowers. Thanks for the ID!
Well, I don't have much to contribute to this thread but I really like seeing what everyone else is doing. Everyone's gardens are just gorgeous. Many years ago, campinspecter's step sister gave me a small rose bush grown from cuttings from the homestead in Bella Coola, BC where she grew up and campinspecter spent some time as well. I planted it in the previous community we lived in and when we moved here, I dug up some runners and planted them here. I have never seen it bloom like it did this month. It is an old fashioned shrub rose and has the most delightful scent. Unfortunately the blooms only last a day or so. I thought you would like to see it. Fortunately it hides the weeds, a scrawny rhododendron and a pot of chrysanthemums that desperately watering.
Old fashioned roses smell amazing. I had some at my old house, and hated that they only bloomed once, and usually during a period of pouring rain so the blooms balled up and fell before we were able to appreciate the show. But they scent in the air was amazing.
Japanese painted fern? Nice I have some. They stay mostly in place. No rhizomes to spread further, faster.
A couple of Day Lilies after the rains yesterday afternoon From the driveway garden - an unknown My Funny Valentine This yellow day lily kills me because it just showed up at the front of the house in 2018. All along the length between the stairs and the driveway are the common orange day lilies, then there is this one plant of that I certainly didn't put there - and haven't planted anything since at least 2015. But, I'm not complaining as I look forward to it opening up each year.
