Yes it has and I have been rally pleased with it. I've had to water several times in the last week as it has been dry here and I want the plants to have a good foundation to make it thru the winter. That is a tough spot as the winds howl down the street and then it will be covered with berms of the white stuff mixed with road salt when that starts falling.
It was down to 37* this morning And guess what has made an appearance? The Giant Autumn crocus you gave me. Still waiting for the smaller ones to show some life. Picture taken of 9/28 - its taller now but I'm not going out to take a new pic
Saturday I mowed and noticed that the backside of the Hydrangea tree has some green blooms. Looks like they will skip the white stage and go straight to pink. That part is in full shade, so rarely gets blooms at all.
Another picture of the Giant Autumn crocus taken yesterday after our first real frost. The Saffron Autumn crocus are starting to send up shoots. I can see 2 in this picture, but the planter had several more.
Yes, they are all the same. Once I really got to looking, I saw 5 (3 of them just the very tips visible), but you are probably correct on the 6.
A couple of the maple trees I planted in 2017 are showing some good color - can't wait for them to get bigger and can make a real statement! First is Autumn Blaze - looks like it still has some changing to do Burgundy Belle - not burgundy but still very pretty. And who knows, the leaves could darken up This is a rhododendron that was already here when I got here. I beleive it is Purple Gem (or Little Gem). It is only a couple feet tall but is full grown and gives a nice show. The third maple that I planted in 2017 hasn't even started to turn yet, so probably get some good color in a couple of weeks.
Enjoying the leaves around the yard, before the storm brings them down. Looking down my driveway, at sunrise. black birches and ash doing their thing
Not many of the Saffron crocus have bloomed (counting the 2 spent ones in the picture, there wer 3 or 4 previously), but they are still green even after 0* temps, lots of snow, some ice and probably some road salt.
Have some greenery and a couple of flowers that have popped up in the last week: Daffodil greens in the back yard. The person who lived in the house before I did must have planted them as the first spring I was here, there weren't nearly his many. And In front of that group of trees on the right (but out of the picture), there are several more large clumps that are new - chipmunks must have transplanted some. Mostly Daffodil greens showing in the roadside garden. Just planted this garden last summer/fall so I'm anxious to see the show. There is a clump of Autumn Fire sedum greens, second from right English Primrose over in the shade garden Grape Hyacinths in the shrub garden Assorted Day Lilies in the shrub garden Burgundy Belle maple is flowering Nicky, Tall Phlox greens in the roadside garden Autumn Joy Sedum by the house I love seeing the plants start back up from their winter's nap!
