Very pretty - I love the natural lilies! I see you also have some Rose Campion in amongst them - which is weird because I thought they liked dry areas but I'm betting that's not dry at all.
Great pics everyone. It's nice to see everything growing. Our flower garden went crazy. I planted the wildflower and hummingbird seed mix. There is some crabgrass in there and daylillies are taking over again. The new flowers are just starting to open now. The butterfly bush opened too. The cultivator is mostly covered with morning glories as well as the pole trellis. It's one big mess of greenery. We are definitely not formal gardens here.
Pictures from 7/9/19 This lily is in the side yard and was the only flower in a beam of light that made it pop! Sunshine on flower stalks - buttercups in my side yard, and also in the back yard Lilies at the front of the house
Pictures from today (7/12/19) Day lily that Midwinter gave to me Hydrangea bud - I don't get many of them so was happy to see this Black Eyed Susans (Rudbeckia) that Midwinter gave to me An overall picture of the driveway garden
Ah, that explains it then. Although I have known (and had) plenty of plants to defy conventional wisdom on what conditions they like, Rose Campion has not been one of them.
Japansee beetles devastated this rose bush in a few days. Purple loosetrife I believe. Nice but invasive. It's gotta go.
Oriental beetles are just starting to show up here . We usually have a higher number of oriental to japanese beetle. I've used the pheromone bag-a-bug traps in the past but used a lot of them around the perimeter of the yard. They'll even find last year's traps put away in the shed. Horny little buggers.
Day lilies This is a rub stella d'oro This one really stands out with its vibrant yellow center and bracketed by the windmill tower
Other flowers and foliage I've always known this as Gay Flower, but apparently that isn't PC anymore. Too bad, because it makes me happy (gay) when I see the blooms 1 yucca stalk of flowers And you can see all 3 stalks - one shorter one on the left still hasn't opened Brand new foliage from the lace leaf maple I planted in the new driveway garden This is slightly older foliage, but definitely new from when I planted it A nine bark in the driveway garden. Not sure what the name is The hydrangea bloom is slowly getting there
Echinaceas that I planted in the new roadside garden Double Scoop Manderin Sombrero Granada Gold Obviously not another double scoop manderin as it was supposed to be
I've been tempted to get some of those new fancy echinaceas. Do me a favor and save a seedhead from the gold one for me!
This hydrangea is showing nicely. I have carpets of this plant along the wetlands in the shaded woods. It finally bloomed and I think it is an orange jewel weed also called a touch-me-not. It is supposed to bloom until frost. They are averaging about 3 feet tall now.
