    Peonies are opening today.

I have an azalea bush that was in the brush pile out back from the p.o. it was in bloom a few weeks ago and lots of greenery on it. I wrestled that thing out and set it in a nice spot. Lots of new growth. I'll give it a chance and the price was right. It's like a Christmas tree with bald spots. Turn it til it looks good.

It looks good for being an exposed root ball all winter.

That azalea does look really good for being exposed like that all winter. They are hardy and looks like it is happy where you put it.

    Lovely peonies too!

It is nearly 6 feet tall, and it was a bear to wrestle into place. The soil is rich and dark in that spot. It should be happy.

Every once in a while someone discards an old rhodo by the side of a logging road. With the roots bare, it will last a couple of seasons before dying off. Of course our winters aren't as harsh as yours.

Irises are in bloom! Pictures taken evening of 6/12/19. BTW, IIRC, all irises were sent to me from my mom in Kansas. The first picture is of irises that we know are descendants of rhizomes brought from my Grandmother's KC house over 50 years ago.

A few more garden pics taken on 6/12/19

Butterfly on one of the rhodies in front that was hit so hard by the winter. Bloom buds are much hardier than the leaves apparently.

I took the critters to the Vet Weds. There was a planter outside her office with the most beautiful Petunia I had ever seen and she didn't know what they were.
I explain it to an employee of a high end greenhouse. They had a hanging basket, $40 and I wasn't going to pay that much. He went out to see if they still have the plants and came back with the last one.
Night Sky was the variety. I don't know how long they have been available, but I just discovered them. Going to have to get on it earlier next year.

The purple one is the Night Sky.
The basket I created. I hope it fills out. I may go in and add some more red ones.

It will be interesting if the flowers turn white when it gets real hot.

3rd year these clematis have been in, and they are loving the cool and rainy season we have had so far. They have never looked so good.

First two pictures are of the same vine

This is a second clematis - yeah, I need to weed AGAIN (did so last weekend)

Very nice clematis. I had one at the last house that put out buds. Some white/brown small bug would suck the juice below the bud and it would flop over and die. I believe I used need oil to prevent it, but the petals got chewed up.

The foxglove here are doing cruddy. I think the soil is too rich and not draining. They were leggy when I got the, so it may be part of it.

The columbine's are tucked down in the field grass and looking very good with dark green leaves.

I picked up a new hummingbird feeder with perches and they are staying longer at the feeder. Not big competition here at the feeder.

Yep, once they get that afternoon sun @2:30, they wilt pretty gooder until out of full sun, then they re-perk.
Consequently- they will stay upright if they’re watered just before they get full sun.
    Weird.

They like lots of water, and at least partial shade from the sun.
