The picture quality is terrible as it’s zoomed way in, but these are the flowers on top of Connecticut’s tallest (that I know of) wild surviving American chestnut tree, at about 65’. I found this tree almost 5 years ago. Unfortunately the blight has finally found it too, so it’s just a matter of time before it dies back to the root system once again. With any luck I can beat the squirrels to a few of this tree’s crop of chestnuts this fall. Who knows how much time it has left.
