No its not a new musical quartet, but a technique used by us roadside hoarders to scrounge wood. Been meaning to get back here. Thanks again to Eric Schamell for the heads up on this and a follow up to my It's Never Any Fun Hoarding in the Hot Sun! thread from July (same location). Flip flopped sections to near the PU, bucked and loaded. Birch and poplar (which i thought was chestnut oak). First time i can recall cutting poplar other than tulip (yellow) poplar.
Nice follow up score, and much better cutting weather to be in! Although I'm feeling like there's more to the story here Bradley....
I think I ended up with some of that same poplar myself. Thought it was sassafras at first but it didn't have the right smell. Poplar on the right?
Yeah the cold was MUCH better than 90* HHH weather. The prickers were a lot worse on that side! Only you know the rest of the story!
*For the record, the whole story is I happen to work 5 minutes up the road from here. I was on my way to go get the rest of this, I came up on Brad as he was hopping into his truck, he sees me, flips me off then roars down the highway like a madman with sawdust spewing out the back of his truck. True story *
Split like butter. I do believe it's Eastern Cottonwood, also referred to as Poplar I've seen. Populus deltoides - Wikipedia
