Cap on the roof. They get plugged with fly ash, which restricts air flow, which will cause a pellet build up and overflow.

Have you ever ran on 6/6 before?

:tears: He is in a traffic jam. He stopped inching along with traffic to make room for the coroners van that was coming up in the grass median between the northbound/southbound. How sad.

In regards to a fire in the ash pan I had one last winter. Left a hell of a smell and haze in the house. My problem is the pellets bounce out of the burn pot and sometimes get ignited. I have learned to watch it closely, so I can understand why you would worry. At least Drolet answers you, Regency is about worthless when it comes to customer service.

I guess I should correct my above post, I do not worry about pellets smoldering in the ash pan as long as the stove is running to exhaust the fumes. I only watch it closely when I shut the stove down, and the exhaust blower is not running! That is what happened to me last winter went I shut the stove down due to ice hanging on the power lines, I was afraid we would lost power at any minute. Little did I know why the stove was off there was still a fire in the ash pan. Brought me out of my sleep real quick.

Thanks for your input. Yes, Drolet was very responsive, sorry to hear about Regency, this is good info for those in the market.

Thank goodness I had kind members help me here!! The resources I have to call for help know nothing about pellet stoves, and my super cautious husband that would tell me what to do was midflight in the air with phone off. Thanks again to all of you!

Since my husband returned home tonight, the leaning roof pipe has started to separate. Its too dark and way to windy to go on roof, so the stove is off for the night. Glad someone ordered too many pipe lengths (me :emb: ooops) so he can repair it tomorrow and put the tie down harness guys on too. Somehow the wind has undone the twist pipe connection despite the high temp RTV on it, should not take too long, good thing since it supposed to be windy and light snow tomorrow. We have the new wood stove insert rockin' and the old quartz infrared heater plugged in. Thanks everybody!

They may be responsive, but with the problems you've been having, they would be on my do not buy list, Obviously this is just my opinion.

Glad you got the problem resolved!

wow- that's impressive (RTV joint failed due to wind). I've put chain wrenches on those joints and destroyed the joint before the connections failed. Why I now prefer the ICC.....joints are screwed together with 3 screws, with an inner seal. Is it possible maybe one of the joints didn't get RTV'd? What brand of pipe is it?

Morning LW, in the daylight I can see it betterq, he was conservative with the RTV on the joints in the house, and liberal with it on the joints above the ceiling. I don't know the brand, black 500* rtv from copperfield. The pipes are Duravent, (pelletpro?). I took a pic that I will post when I get a new card dongle.

maybe, but as its a new design/run, this is an opportunity for Drolet to shine.....if the issue might be the venting, that's hardly the stoves' fault is it? I don't sell the product, but then again, Im biased, being in the business. They are sold online, so Drolet will end up dealing with the end user, in this case Wildwest. This isn't a hidden thing when these things are sold, the purchaser knows if there's issues, they will be dealing with the manufacturer, and that's fine. Maybe Wildwest is just ironing out the kinks in their install and once that's all rectified it will be smooth sailing for years to come! :smoke:

I hope you're correct LW...But if I were looking for a stove at this moment, I would remove this one from my list.

LW, I am under the impression I have 2 separate issues coincidently at the same time. Drolet told me not use the 2 highest settings even before I discovered the pipe trouble. On the other hand, I doubt most users live at 7500 ft either, which they think is part of the issue. Interesting!

erm, well, there are high altitude issues.....other brands actually produce high altitude fan impellers....maybe Drolet does?

Ash pan on fire again :picard: Waiting for the fire to burn out to look, but it appears the ashpan has an avalanche of unburned and 1/2 burned pellets in it. I'll update...
