Tried a long-handle Fiskars a couple years ago, while its owner tried my 3 kg Mueller maul. Had to point out to him that you don't have to "daisy" everything with such a maul, typically nothing at all. Wasn't at all impressed by the Fiskars (which he broke the handle on a bit later). Just didn't have the mass. I wasn't predisposed towards marketeers, and really like good hickory tool handles. Accuracy prevents overstrikes.

OTOH, love 2.5 kg Wetterlings, 3 kg Mueller, 6 lb Council Tools, and a couple cheapie big-box-store mauls that I reshaped to mimic Mueller. It becomes easy to see which are made of prime materials.

Ya. The right tool for the job. I like my Fiskars splitting Ash. :axe:When it comes to Elm, or anything tough to split, I want my maul and a sledge and wedge around. Better yet. I want my hydraulic splitter, now that I have my own.
