Got it…Your right, you have a lot of ground to cover! As I've been told, all or most of the XL's were made in Utah. I have no proof of that but some of my very good sources have noted that. I couldn't say how many went West vs. East. As far as I know they weren't a truly production model due to there "MAMMOTH" size.
By the way, Thank you! Although I'm by far an expert and I'm still learning more about these wonderful stoves every day. There is still so much to learn, there were so many variations and things various builders did to "tweak" the stove a bit. Just how some builders made a slight change to the ash pan/tray in the front, some more rounder than others etc… It just makes it more intriguing
Wow, thats sad… Many of doors got scrapped when Fisher went out of business. By law/copyright, they couldn't be used. They don't appear to be XL doors.
I'd like a screen for the shop Fisher, if you find a nice Fisher insert I'm looking for one for the house.
I have a "BIG" Kodiak if your interested ??? It's in "real nice" shape. Almost a Fisher, built Identical. Although, there are some Fisher inserts out there, I saw one on CL about two weeks ago.
I'm not sure which one it is, but I'd be all over it if I was closer. WeldrDave I think I've picked up some of your bad habits. Like cast iron and old stoves. Just got the one stove still, the local flea market scene dies down this time of year so no cool cast. But hey a man can always dream.
Yes, ironically true! If only people knew how much they will be worth in 20 years… Bob Fisher passed last year, oooops, 2014.
Not bad habits…. Just different habits…. I find cast stuff anytime. It'll pop up when you least expect it. .
I just can't get this particular stove outta my head! I want to close my garage off into a shop someday and stick one in there... Love the monster.....
Good to see you again! It sure does one good looker! I cant have a wood stove in a building zones as a garage so it has to be sealed and rezoned. Its many years away before I can do that but I have started snooping for a stove already.
Saw this one on CL; Fisher wood stove for sale. Very good condition. Serious inquiries only. Size- 33 1/2 " wide, 24 1/2" deep, and 30" high. Includes 10" vent pipe. A little off from the XL dimensions of 34-1/2' x 32"x 34"
