We used to have one at our local McDonald's in Belfast, Maine as well, and they used it, but then they tore that McDonald's down and put in a trendy McCafe. It was utterly stupid. The area around the wood stove took up some room, but the new style is trendy, but has a lot less seating space and is crowded. Go in during tourist season and you barely have room to stand while your order is being put together.

Having (4) daughters, and one being 4 years old, we gravitate to the old style McDonald's that still have the play places. It still angers me that Gorham, New Hampshire removed theirs, but their facility is quite big at least.

You beat me to it! Back in May when I took a trip to Maine to buy my dump trailer, we stopped in Gorham on our way home for a quick lunch. Most people wouldn’t pay attention to a wood stove in a McDonald’s. But us wood burners see all!! I was actually pretty surprised to see a wood stove in there. I had commented to my fiancé, “I wonder if they actually use that?”.
