My son wanted a "koi" pond so I gave him a shovel. This is the result (with a little help from his dad and brother). A 25 gallon upper pond, a waterfall, a 15 foot long stream with another waterfall into a 150 gallon lower pond. The lower pond now has 20 "feeder" goldfish in it. If they survive the winter we will add koi. In the spring we will replant the area. My next project is to cover the concrete patio at the bottom of the picture with cedar decking. The previous owner had covered it with ceramic tiles but they don't last with the winters around here. Just about 600 square feet of patio. KaptJaq

We re-did the deck in the spring. 500sf of 2x6 cedar. The frame was in good shape, it is made of PT. The floor boards were put down butting up against each other and, after 25+ years, were starting to rot. Since the deck is 11' high I decided to re-do it BEFORE somebody fell through. We call the lower area the "patio". It is at ground level in the shade. It is cool and we hang there in the summer. The "deck" is in direct sunlight most of the day but comfortable spring and fall as well as late summer evenings for a cordial and a good "not in my house" cigar. KaptJaq

That looks great Kapt. It has a nice natural look to it. We had a few different sized fiberglass ponds over the years and I was always amazed of the wildlife they would attract. We had several oranda goldfish, but the raccoons got to them. Every summer around here, there is a weekend where local folks open their yards up for "pond tours". It is a fun hobby.
We have always loved the deck and patio. Unless it is actually raining we rarely eat inside during the summer. Your deck view is similar to ours, trees as far as you can see. We also get some (real estate broker jargon coming) "winter water views" (Where? Stretch out over the edge and look that way.) KaptJaq
OK, both of you, that's a sneaky way way of getting pictures of those neat stacks of firewood in. What do you think this is some kind of firewood hoarders site or something? Love the decks and the trellis... And like Will said Skeeter, you just gotta add some color. KaptJaq
That pic was from a few years back those stacks are gone only have about a cord left for the fire pit wood stove has been replaced with another pellet eater

Love your pond/stream arrangement. Your son did an excellent job with some help. I have always loved fish ponds but never got around to putting one in.
