Isnt that ridge suppose to be there? The factory has it right?
I think it may have something to do with disturbing air?

I'd bet it's at the back side of the flame head, cooler there and causing oil to condense there?

The exhaust side is hotter. That's part of what causes that build up above. Smooth that hump out in the transfer.

I start with 220 on a split mandrel. You can work up from there and go to scotchbrite.

Thank you fur the input...so a bad tune or bad oil causes this...or is it the scratches that allow the fuel and oil to blow by the rings...the scratches end at the head where the material begins to the spark plug....thank you... IMG_20160126_161832.JPG IMG_20160126_152815.jpg

The scratches probably end where ever that point of the piston stops?

Yea bad tune can cause scratches. If your too lean there will not be enough fuel with oil in it to lube the saw.

Bad oil can cause carbon and crud as it hardens and turns to gunk. Good quality oil stays liquid and does not coke up. Use a good synthetic oil.

The 220 is to clean the bore. Smooth that with a carbide

I am no expert but can you feel the scratches? Or is it transfer ? Some guys lost good videos of removing AL transfer off the jugs.

Oil ....im not sure if we want to start an oil war. Any full synthetic is probably fine. Lucas 2 stroke is a semi syn but has been said to be good by folks I would trusts opinion. I have used and am using Amsoil. It seems good. Many like Belray, and pretty much any of the racing two stroke is fine. I think I will try the lucas when I use the last pint and a half of the amsoil up that I have. I can get lucaus local and its like $10/qt.
