First the wind now electric co.

Came home this afternoon to find the electric co. cutting trees on my 500' frontage. They had sent a letter over a year ago asking if it was ok to cut trees they had marked. I had said yes but I wanted the wood and they said ok. I stopped and asked if they were leaving the wood and the super said it was asked for already by a friend. I said they could stop cutting or leave the wood as the letter I had at home said. He looked at a sheet on a clipboard and said I was right it was to be left.

Tree guys can be sketchy

 

They wanted to do here, with the same letters. Homeowners mostly said have at it, Town said - NO - trim from the wires only. Stupid, it will grow right back. So they pruned all the same branches they pruned 5 years ago. The blue ribbons are still on the trees the licensed arborist they hired marked for very selective culling to identify in the letters.

There are four large red oaks marked three dead one live that will get cut today. :stacke:

Back in the spring I came home to a tree company dropping dead ash trees near powerlines on my property and saw my neighbor out there talking to them. I’ve already had some issues with this neighbor over property boundaries so I went out to see what was up. He was trying to get them to let him have the wood, even move it the 15 feet to his property and the supervisor was trying to say no because the trees weren’t on his property (she barely spoke English). She seemed relieved when I showed up and let them both know I’d be keeping it. If my neighbor would have just come to me I would have let him have the wood, but I don’t like the sneaky way he operates. My neighbor didn’t even want the wood for himself, it was for a friend who was out of work and wanted to flip it for a profit.

You've got to watch out for slim shady. He'll come in and try to take the shirt off your back when you are not looking.

 

Today's haul was great. They cut down three more maples and two red oaks and a white oak




And tomorrow they said they would be happy to cut this dead standing Red Oak that is halfway up my driveway

Nice guys. It's been years since I have had maple forgot how easy it splits. Do they deliver to you or do you pick up? Hope you weren't the friend he said the wood was for.

 

That was tongue in cheak. I am usually the first to ask for pictures.

 

Neither really, the Arborist works on the side so I use him for the stuff I won't touch. Homeowner pays him, I take the good stuff and they handle brush. He is ridiculously cheap.

 

That would be a rush to fall that red oak. Nice score on the wood.

 

Not much to hinge that puppy on, if it was hollow like that at the bottom.
