Alaska has spoiled us with the freedom we have compared to the other 49 states. For instance state and federal land belongs to the people and as such I have cut several hundred miles of trails.
Certainly enjoy that "freedom" as long as you can. Sadly we all know what generally happens over time.
Wow! Is it a bit early, or is this normal there? Still in the 70's here. We usually don't get any snow until December anyway. If we get any.
Thanks for sharing the pics with us. The country side we just visited will look like that in a month's time. Nice as it is to look at, I prefer our area for winters.
It looks so good, Our new house we bought recently has a corrider trail on it. In NH a corrider trail is the equivalent of an interstate highway, well marked and groomed. My friend just gave me a Polaris Indy 600 triple. We had 4 sleds but sold two, we have two registered as antiques for life, with an actual antique metal license plate (motorcycle sized). I'm going to get something new soon, so we'll two newer sleds then also. GREAT pics Tom! Fun with the family.
You should check out the new Lynx Boondocker. Definitely not a trail sled, meant to be busting trails. Could be fun with the uncoupled suspension, be like the older sleds that when you turned you were on the brake to plant the skis. BRP makes them in Finland. The is a shorter tracked version called the Rave but it wouldn’t have the floatation in deep snow at low speed I think.
That's how it was here in the 70's when I first started riding used machines from the 1960's. Not all trails here are groomed today, just the main ones. Still plenty of trail busting going on.
Some of the summits are a pretty good ride and not so much of a “work sled” like the tundra and skandic. I’d like to take one for a rip, that and the Mach z at 180 horse. That’s a county sled or ice sled for sure but sounds like a hell of a ride.
