Piddly stuff forecast here for tomorrow night. 3" does not a Western MA winter make, but I won't complain - more time that I can split pine for the next couple years. The forecast did help me get my butt in gear covering next year's primary hardwood stack, so that's one less job to take care of.
I would love to see some snow here. I never ran the snow blower at all last year, year before was many times. I say bring it on.
This snow is certainly gonna put a damper on my plans this weekend. Planned on hunting tomorrow morning then going to cut a Christmas tree. Now I'm on call to salt/plow so no hunting and might have to put off the tree.
Well, we were totally unprepared for this snow coupled with the cold snap. But when we got up this AM, it was not yet snowing and so did a really quick dump of all the garbage in the trailer, then filled it about 2/3 of the way and threw it up on the unfinished but covered porch. Not perfect but better than trudging through snow outside to get wood one sling or one hand- truck at a time. The trailer with wood on the porch. It really cannot get much closer to the front door than this: There is a lot of weight on the tongue jack and it makes the box tube of the trailer frame flex (rotate) pretty badly. So I throw a split under the frame tube and then jack the trailer nose down onto it to bear most of the tongue weight: Of course the porch is not done and we are desperately trying to get a contractor to finish the framing, sheath the roof and cover it with ice and water shield. That will make it 'dried- in' and hold us for a while. The goal was to finish the porch and probably side the house this winter but it is looking less and less likely. We are finding it impossible to find contractors; we had one scheduled to show up last Monday morning and the guy never showed, called or e-mailed. Poof!- gone. Anyway, we have firewood under cover and that section of the roof is at least sheathed so while not waterproof (it will drip between the sheating sheets), it will not snow on the wood which is a big plus. damm they downgraded my area to less than 2". I was looking forward to sledding with the kids this afternoon. It's just flurrying here, nothing sticking.
Benji left 6" here in Pulaski,ms. The kids had a ball. Here's a pic of my youngest two. My older one was asleep from playing dang video games all night. Last pic is this morning. Starting to melt away
Well it was yesterday. They were out of school. I let them stay home and enjoy it. It doesn't happen here but every couple years like this
Coventry, the east end near Situate. I can shoot you my contact info. via private mail ("a conversation"). Odds are probably 50/50 though we have already spoken.... I think I have called all the contractors in RI (not really but it seems that way) Brian
theres about 3-4" on the ground here. I just did my first driveway plowing of the year, only because I was going out. I was fresh outa booze, and wifey wants cocktails in the tub while its snowing tonight.
