The wife mentioned tonight that she would like the sleds off the trailer tomorrow, we'll do it after coffee in the morning.

The plow for the truck is behind the trailer so I'll drag the trailer to a new spot once we get the sleds off.

As long as they stay off the snowmobile trails I'm ok with that. An atv can get use all year, while a sled only has a couple short months at best.

Sleds are expensive too, more pricey than quads. You can buy a nice new current year 500-600cc 4x4 quad for $5000. You can't touch a new current sled until you get to several thousands more.

And here is the opposite, ATV for 4 months, sleds for 8 or so.
Most of the guys in the shop have at least 2 sleds. One breaks, they have a back-up. Total sausage party on the weekends, everyone trying to one-up someone else.
Thank you but no, I'll stick to my nice reliable Polaris 6 x 6 and plow my drive.

I believe that was a wacko suing for what the title States and it was struck down. Hard to tell from the title and info (fake news?)

I've made mention of the ridiculousness of the park and apa before.
Cutting saplings that grow up every year is the 31000 trees and is considered clear cutting to the apa.
This was also an area that was just sold to the state that was logged and the "trail" in question being a very well maintained logging road.
They are only allowed to maintain 9 feet in width.:loco:

Snowmobiles are mostly lawn ornaments. Thats why I won't ever buy a new one.
Almost everyone I know buys (finances)a new sled every few years

Its apples to oranges though. I personally wouldn't buy or co sider a (used) quad in the category you listed imo you need 7k + MSRP for a nice new quad. It puts you close to a phazer or an Ace.The sled market is also much more limited.

I've said it twice before but never took them off because of the lack of snow and the rain, tomorrow the sleds come off the trailer so we can put the new registration stickers on.

We took the sleds off the trailer around 11 or so, they started hard but with the help of the cheater spray we got them going, I took about three laps around the trails near the house and once I go back out the new registration stickers will go on.

    Woot woot!
Hard to tell from pics of sleds are those two liberty 600s?
The rain looks like it made a good base.
Last week I got horrible mpgs from the loose powder.
    Where abouts do you ride?

They're both Polaris Indy Trail 500, we ride in the Colton NY area on the county trails. We only have 3 or 4 inches of the white fluffy snow, they need a good foot of fresh snow before they take the groomers out to pack it down to three inches.

We bought them a few years back on CL from someone in Vermont. We wanted sleds that we didn't have payments on, so far they've been good little sleds.

We took the old Polaris Indy Trail snowmobiles for a few rides the last couple of days, not much snow on the trails up through the woods but the groomers are doing a great job.

The above picture is from the State Park.

If you take even minimal care of those Indy trails, they will run forever. Solid sleds.

They're a nice little sled, the last we rode them was 2020 but they started on the fourth pull off the trailer, today they started after the first pull.

I had an 87 Indy trail. That was second year of the 488cc . Before that they were 440cc. That sled simply ran, and ran, and ran. Not the quickest, but I put a clutch kit and dyno tuned it. It was light, snappy and fun to toss around the corners. I'd routinely not ride that sled, sometimes it only got started to make sure it ran, and it always started right up and would run like a top. The 488 fan cooled was kinda thirsty though. We had a liquid cooled 488 cc Indy 500, as well as a few friends had those liquid 500's too, and the liquid cooled version always got much better mpg, in addition to having more power. Both are solid Fuji made in Japan engines.

We took the sleds out for a short ride today, about 20 miles. We went through an area that had been logged off, the snow on the trails was ok but with the sun and more riders, it will be getting bad unless we get more snow.

Drove into Wisconsin today and after the sun came out, noticed what a beating the trails were taking down there! Same thing happening; It's a bit early yet, but the sun is beginning to get some kick in it!

We had a cold January so the strong sun is welcomed!
