Did you put that splitter into vertical mode so that the work was not so hard? It makes a huge difference.
I've used the splitter in both modes, standing upright works best for me. My helper didn't make it yesterday so I worked more then I planned on.
But, if you learn the proper technique, you then do not need a helper and you won't work nearly as hard! That is the point I was trying to make. Just think; standing upright works for you? If you are standing upright, then how do you get the wood onto the splitter? Most folks have to bend down and lift the log onto the splitter. When I split, I do not have to lift any log onto the splitter and I sit while doing all this which takes a whole lot less effort which means you can do more without tiring and if you do that, then one more benefit is that you have less chance of accidents. Tired bodies tend to have more accidents! Please do not think I am attempting to put you down in any way because I am not. I'm just trying to show you and others that there are easier ways of working. In addition, there are some little tricks you can use while splitting which will speed up your work without tiring you and you'll even burn less gas in the splitter engine. It is just like other things that we learn how to do; in time we learn how to work smarter rather than harder.
No worries here, I sit all week(work) and commute eight hours each week so standing is the lesser of two evils. The plan was to have the helper place each round into the splitter and I was going to push/pull the lever, HA HA that didn't pan out.
