First Ideal Steel had been shipped!

What do you have or swapping so many stoves brian?

And without reading the hundreds of posts on this ideal steel stove. What's the deal? You can customize it? And did certain people become testers on this and the "other" forum...thats what it looks like I have gathered over the years. I remember seeing a stove pic with backwoods on it, is that an actual stove? I thought backwoods had a NC30 who else would out him on their stove. Just a bit confused with all this talk about these ideal stoves.

 

My first stove was a Woodstock Fireview, bought it used in December 2011, used it for two seasons, but it didn't quite have enough output for our drafty old house. Then we were given the opportunity to Beta test Woodstock's new stove model, the Ideal Steel, in the fall of 2013. The Beta stoves can be customized with colors and designs on the andirons, tops and sides.

We burned the Beta test stove through the 2013-2014 season and I returned the Beta version of the Ideal Steel to Woodstock this spring. I ordered a production model of the Ideal Steel, with the colors and designs in my avatar, which they will be shipping to me next week.

They asked me if I'd be willing to Beta test their next model, the Franklin Steel Hybrid this fall.

Since we're going to be moving stoves in and out so much over the coming year I decided to invest in a pair of Roll or Kari organ dollies.

Roll-Or-Kari's are a brand of organ dollies. They come in pairs, and are designed to be strapped on to the organ, one on each end. They have wheels which jack down (the Roll part), and very comfortable flip up handles (Kari). Once you have used a set, you will not want to move an organ without them ever again.

They come in several models. The bottom bar is available in (at least) two widths. If you plan on moving any B-3's you'll need the wide version, since the narrow one will not span the legs. You can also get models with swiveling (steerable) wheels on either one or both sides.

Those look cool. I will probably never move an organ but I can see that with a grinder and cut off wheel you can easily modify those to hold a stove.


What do you get to test a stove. Seems like an awful lot of effort swapping stoves all the time.

We received a discount on the new stove in return for Beta testing the Ideal Steel stove. Plus it was an enjoyable experience all around.

 

No modifications required, they move wood stoves just fine the way the are. We moved out my Fireview from my home and to my brother's basement with them and moved the Beta Ideal Steel stove in and out with them.

I also use then for moving the big filing cabinets full of charts at my office.

 

Ok there was an optical illusion. I thought that bottom plate had another lip, basically making it like a C channel bottom and not a normal hand truck. I see it now though.

 

I could or sworn you had an englander 30? I guess the mind is a powerful l thing!

 

Dennis, did you accept to be a tester on the beta version of the Franklin stove? I remember that coming up early last spring...

 

Thanks for posting that info on the dollies Brian, I've never heard of them but I'm going to look into renting a set to move my stove. I ended up switching to the PH since the IS wouldn't fit in my fireplace as is and the PH will, also my wife likes the PH better and didn't want to make any modifications to the hearth. I think the higher btu output is better for us since our house is pretty big.
