That would be the first one I have seen leak. It's a welded seam, so, is a weld leaking? If so, bring it back to the retailer and get a new one.

...big sigh.... natural draft. Never had any sort of leak ever with duravent!

then you haven't used much Duravent! Ever tested draft on the outlet side of your stove? Its NOT natural draft. The combustion fan pressurizes it....which is why pellet vent has to be gasketed at each joint. Go outside, put your hand in front of the end of the pipe....still think its natural draft?

I did, the 2nd one leaked at startup too. Maybe a bad batch, but it was just easier to tape it than waste 2 hours driving to and from the retailer again and then replacing again.

Kind of the way we have been conditioned in this country. Pay more and accept less. Have you looked at the cell phone industry? Talk about being bent over and being asked to like it.

Whatever the case maybe I can unplug the stove with a full burn and not get one trace of smoke or odors

I will say that the ICC do work well. I may have had a bad batch on the elbow.

Many have had success with Duravent too. Nothing is perfect though and may need some tweaking to get it right.

then the dealer did a great job of installing for $650! And since there is no leakage, in the future, if you get some, you'll know you have a shot gasket or whatever

No.. your confused. .my harman just arrived saturday. My old/brand new us stove is finishing out the season. I installed that completely up to code and manufacturer specs. This is why I declined the 650$ install. In just need to figure out the new pipe configuration , plug it in, and run new fresh air pipe. Yes I know nothing about tweeking a harmons settings so I will gladly pay for that

I guess I am confused! Somehow I mistook this install with another where a guy was complaining about the dealer requiring
I guess I am confused! Somewhere I am mistaking your thread for one where a guy was complaining about having to sign some waiver because he was doing his own installation, and that they normally charged $650 for the labor (crazy money!)....my apologies.....I answer some of these on an Ipad.....

Really? They wanted a waiver signed for DIY install or an inspection fee to honor the warranty? Never heard of that before.

Lol. I explain It all in the thread "it has begun" but yes I declined install because 90 percent of install is done. They had me sign a diy waiver and have to inspect my install to honor my warranty

The charge is a one time fee for combustion test and inspection so I am ok with this. If they dont like my install (which I doubt because it will be by the book) then i fix it and send pictures of my repair for warranty compliance. And hey if I have to buy a new run of pipe so be it! But for lousy weathers way of doing it I have to say I dont just change things cause they "might leak" if they leak fine we go get the run of icc. If not we keep 700$ in the wallet. Ive been down many of hvac roads as well as stoves and fireplaces. Ill get it done perfectly! I always do!
