Yes, does it have a rheostat so you can adjust the fan speed? If not, you can add one to it and that will allow you to crank up the fan when you need to reap all of the BTU's you can, and turn it lower when you don't need to get chooched out of the house.
I'll sit by the stove and feed it wood, whileyall get drunk beer curled......I promise not to post too many pics...
It's variable. If I fall asleep in the family room we have the correct amount of heat. If my wife is grabbing a blanket it's too cold, and if my kids come down to wake me up it's too warm.
Believe it or not it's a strategy game. My knee was operated on a few years ago so my days of curling are over, but I still enjoy it and even watching it on TV. I seen a ' curling table' at a bar in Northern Wisconsin a few years ago, I gotta get one for our future game room
Like Suburban wood snob said it's variable which is nice because on full blast it can be a little loud, so it's nice to turn it down if needed. But from my little experience and speaking to many folks seems that all the blowers are pretty loud on full blast. We needed it last week, Thurs and Friday with highs in the upper 20's and lows in the teens I had to turn that blower in full blast to get that heat moving. I noticed the heat getting sucked right upstairs and not even getting into my living room with the thermostat. I'd like to run a small fan next time it gets that cold. I know they say/recommend to blow the fan direction into the room with the stove pumping heat but being the heat is just rising so fast up the steps thinking of pointing the fan direction into the living room sucking some of that hot air away from flying up the steps a little. Here is a little layout of my home! Am still learning much about the stove and how the heat is moving around.
Thanks bear 1998 , good idea! Living room side easy to do with attic access but the stove side a pita
Our kitchen n living room is an open floor plan...ceiling was raised....not real high (13 ft.). On cold days it makes a world of difference. Yours is totally different....but i think they would do well..
brenndatomu , gotta pick your brain on how you did this. I'd love just an on/off switch, sometimes it cuts off to early and starts late as well. Still a good amount of heat pumping when it cuts off sometimes!!!
I just "jumpered around" the thermo-switch with my toggle switch. Literally just connected each terminal of the thermo-switch to each terminal of the toggle. (wired in parallel) That way the speed control dial still works, and so does the factory themo-switch (when the toggle is off) For some reason mine even had an extra hole there already for the toggle to mount in.
