31F here now, 71F inside. I can't let the fire go out or turn down. It takes too long to bring the temp back up. Anyway, the is an ice storm predicted and as well as the potential fot many power failures. Forcast is for over a half inch of ice.
I just showed my wife this and it really tickled her. She said I like baking.......have at honey !!!!!
Predicting a high of 22 on Christmas eve and 14 at night. Good thing I got my stove work out of the way.
No fire?! Locust. Locust Post. Have you checked to see if you wife is fully dressed? I'm thinking you need a fire going tonight man.
Life is making the best of the situation, and having fun doing it. I think I saw this line somewhere.
If you are looking for an excuse to have a fire, come to Maine. We have a lot of temps that are appropriate for having your fire burning 24/7.
Scotty, hope you feel better.... Same thing here weather wise, foggy as heck tonight... Snow is just about gone from the other day. Once it gets cold again should be a good time to start harvesting firewood from my woods... No snow makes it nicde to flush the cuts close to the ground... Suppose to be 63 here tomorrow! Crazy!
It is the first day of winter and BOTH stoves are cold. Overnight lows in the 50s and highs tomorrow in the 60s. It is not even worth burning shoulder season wood. Start the oven in the morning to bake some sour dough biscuits to go with breakfast and the house will be plenty warm. Normally by Thanksgiving we are well into 24/7 burning of one stove. This year we had a week of both stoves going before Thanksgiving, a couple of days with highs in the 20s and nights in the low teens. Now this? I like a normal routine. Stuff the stove before work, get home, bring in a cart of wood & re-load. Enjoy dinner and the family, reload and go to bed. REPEAT 'till spring. This weather is throwing my routine off and confusing the poor cats. Enjoy the Holidays everybody... KaptJaq
