That is a simple fix...the stove needs more air....I really think most people don't realize they might have to adjust settings when using a new or different pellet. The one thing Okies are not is a dirty pellet, so if the glass hazes up quickly, most likely its lack of air. As you pointed out earlier... I am not a stove expert...nor profess to be one....but I do know this much ..... So besides the dirty glass, did he also get the gunk you reported?.....
In my experience burning on low with Softwood pellets will also cause the glass to be much dirtier than normal. Turning the stove in high for a minute here and there will clean that up.
Really, I had to get up an close the window around 2 AM. We got a bit, But still need some more. A nice steady days worth of drizzle would be cheeky.
Bottomed out at 60 this Am. Wasn't worth opening the windows. Be different tonight, should see mid to low 50's.
Plenty of rain and humidity up here. Been like this for almost a week. Finally going to get some dryer air tomorrow.
he got a thick coating of soot yes. Not as much creosote as me.so something was wrong .But reguardless we can go round and round till where blue in the face. You pellets made an unsafe situation for me and its not my stove. Somersets burned like a dream prior to platniums and f.e.p burned fine after. Ashy yes but by no means wet black oil burner type soot . So that aside all I keep hearing is you telling me my stove isnt Running properly. Then I hear you make your pellets out to be the jesus christ of all pellets. So you can understand my frustration when you get cocky. Now like the gentlemen here have asked multiple times what are you putting in those damm platnium bags. Sit there and tell me how great they are but for all I know there could be inferno softys in there.
I had the same issues described here with the golds I bought last year. They left a think layer of creosote caked on the whole fire box. It was nasty stuff too, not easy to clean off. The Harman Tool and paint brush wouldn't do much for it. Also, these pellets hold the world heavyweight title for fastest forming speedbump in my stove. The only way to clean it all up was to burn an insanely hot, clean burning pellet like Somersets or PTLs. Having said all this, I didn't call the dealer to complain, and it's not like someone sent me a letter or called me on the telephone to ask me how I felt about them. In fact if it weren't for this forum, I would never have mentioned it at all. Point being, no news is not necessarily good news. So no matter how many thousands of tons were sold in the past, no assumptions can be made about how happy those customers were who bought them. After the experience I had with them, I would not buy them again.

El Nino would be nice, but i'll believe it when I see it. We hit -50 lows for a week straight the last three years...
