I laugh when I see folks do that. Red light I let up on the gas and coast. Pizzes lots of drivers off.

I gave up on that after having one turn out while making eye contact with me. Now I watch the wheels of their vehicles for any movement, always assuming they don't acknowledge me. I just had it happen while in my truck a couple weeks ago...at night.

Sold my bike over a decade ago after 3 close calls of people not paying attention in a couple weeks. It’s just not worth it. The job I have now puts me on the interstate with a lane closed and nothing more than a few cones separating me from traffic. It’s somewhat terrifying. After dark is the worst. The things I have seen people doing while operating a 3000lb missile is mind boggling.

X2...not on the interstate, but the rest of it, X2! :startled:
Have had more than one person come through road barricades too...one a few years ago hit a backhoe, and then tried to sue! :picard:
Even though Ohio has a hands free law now, you still see people texting, regularly!

lol, texting is the lest of it. Driving a triaxle you get a good view into the car beside you. It’s a family friendly site I’ll leave it there.

The road I live on is a shortcut connecting 2 main roads. It's amazing the number of people I see texting, talking with handheld devices, and drinking (you can tell) all while flying down a 35 mph road.

A farmer uses this road for hauling silage from the fields. His drivers are frequently texting. Hasn't happened yet but big a one waiting to happen.

Chit, you can't expect them to drive anymore. Driving reasonably went by the way 15 years ago and now cars come with tv's taking up the whole middle area of the dash! Brilliant idea!
I turned my Harley into a utv as motoring around on mostly back roads had lost its relaxation and enjoyment.

Plus I can use it year round!

You would be surprised at what people sometimes not only survive, but even Walk Away from

This was one of those surprising incidents, driving past, I would have bet that months mortgage on it being a Fatality.

Nope, the Lady in the car walked away with only MINOR INJURIES :jaw:, it did take the fire department an hour and a half to cut her out of it, but she wasn’t transported to the hospital for treatment.

FWIW, I did see this pretty much as the pics show, but I didn’t take them, I stole them from an online article about the accident.

I’m sure that I will get flamed for this, but as far as the motorcycles go, from all the Incredibly STUPID things that I have seen MC’s do, I would question the actual percentage of bikes that are at fault, as opposed to autos.

I have been a commercial driver for over 37 years, and 3,500,000 miles, I have seen a LOT of Stupid things on the road, and the stuff by the bikes has probably been the Stupidest.

Sadly, I had a front row seat to Motorcyclist committing Involuntary Suicide. About 7 years ago, I had a MC, lane split between me and the car next to me, at a traffic light, that he didn’t want to stop for, and he T-Boned a turning car. It launched the rider almost vertically, higher than the signal crossarm.

According to the PD, about a week later, they called to ask me some more questions, and when I asked about the rider, they said that the machines were still keeping him alive, but that there was no brain activity :(

I’m sure not saying that autos never are the problem, but all too often the riders are their own worst enemies

And YES, I have had a MC, but I personally never got comfortable on a MC on the road, either Mentally, or physically, I was never able to get the bike adjusted to where I would want to do an extended ride on it

    Doug
