Definitely will be here more often now. Health issues with myself and the wife have kind of gotten in the way. We will just keep trying to plow ahead though. Hoping all is well on your end.

Metal roofing on mine and I screw it to the upright pallets...Works great for me...But I don't have to pull from my stacks in the winter because all of my dry wood is in the garage.

Milleo, we do the same. Move wood into the barn usually in October.

Metal roofing is hard to get in this part of NY. That plastic corregated stuff is about all you'll find. It works OK but it needs a solid frame and rafters. I like the idea of tin roofing and pallets.

If you stack the wood so it supports the roofing it will take one wicked snow load...

That's not a bad idea. The only thing is that on my postage stamp property I don't have many places to store wood so I usually tarp the stacks so that I can take pieces out and not have a solid roof come down. I tried it once with plywood and it drove me crazy. I'm about two years ahead right now and trying to get to three is tough. The chicken run with the corregated plastic roof will hold about a cord for the first of the dried winter wood. I'm trying to come up with something easy on one side of the property line that I do have some three year wood on. It's laying out the wood in order and ease of getting it to the stove that is a pain. If my son would get his project car out of the garage that's been there for ten years hanging from the rafters and take it to his house, then I'd be in good shape. I keep hearing, yeah dad, as soon as I can. I'm so busy working and with the kids and all...you know how it goes. Lol.

Al, if you get something like we use, you can still take from the stacks and not have to worry about what you haven't taken as the stuff does bend when you remove some wood. Just keep it weighted down a bit.

Well, sorry. I thought I had a picture or 3 of some stacks that were still maybe 1/2 or more gone but still covered. I'll try to remember to take more pictures of some stacks like that in the future. But you can tell much by looking at that first picture. I think some was taken from the rh side as that end looks mighty low.

Dennis, I've always admired how your stacks look like buildings with a nicely sloped roof. If I could get metal roofing up here I would try it that way. Can't find metal roofing anywhere near here. It must be illegal or something.

    The only
thing they sell locally is that plastic corregated stuff in green or white. I did a chicken run with it, but am afraid it's too light to put loose on the stacks.

It should work okay Al. Either weight it down or screw it right onto the top of the stack or both.

I must be getting old. Thanks Dennis, I can see how that'll work out pretty good.

Oh, Sav. LOL. I took a corrugated fiberglass roof off of the back porch a few weeks ago (terrible idea. Don't ever use that stuff on a living space.) And it went straight out to the stacks. Has been blown around a little bit by summer storms. Maybe a few deck screws isn't a bad idea.
