I was thinking about a 24"x30"x 32" deep box. That would allow me to get 2 rows deep in that 24x30 square. That is 13.3 sqft. Charging $20? How does that sound?
Face cord is 128 sqft / 13.3 sqft x $20 is $192 per cord. A significant increase on our face cord return. Am I on the right track?

How is face cord 128 sq feet?? Full cord is 3 rows of 8’x4’x16” or 128 sq ft
A face cord/run/Rick is about 42.6 sq ft

He has $5 and $10 stacks. The $10 ones are by far the most popular. He puts about 13-14 pieces in those

I know it's a long ways off for the boy but look into putting the extra money into a Roth IRA. There are several firms that have plans for kids that the parents control.

You would have to keep track of all earned income to show you could contribute to the IRA. Due to the likelihood your kids will not make significant income they will pay very minimal income taxes now and the distribution at retirement will be tax free.

I'm looking into setting up one for each of my kids. The interest earned will typically be much greater than a savings account. The funds can be used for college and purchasing a first home too per current rules.

My wife is concerned that if the world economy goes south the kids will loose the money. If things go that bad I have a feeling we will all loose our money and it won't matter.

I couldn't agree more with taking some of his money and investing it. I have done this with mine and see what they should have when they turn 18 and it's way more than a savings account

We only have a little bit left. ($40 worth for another buddy) But my boy is super excited about the $200 he got paid today.
We plan on starting a bit sooner this year and getting a lot more done for next year. This was kind of an after thought last spring and we didn't have the time to do too much.

That's awesome, great lesson in hard work to learn. And $200 for all that wood almost seems too cheap. Is that half a cord? In my area that much dry hardwood would be 4 times more.

2 face cords of oak, pecan and a little black walnut. Told my buddy we would give to to him for $100 a face cord. Definitely too cheap.

We will also be raising our prices for next year as well.

Awesome job! At 31 now, I was much like your son at that age. You definitely learn the concept of what a $1 is worth.

SOLD OUT! For a grand total of $290 this season. For some of you pros that is less than chump change, for my almost 11 year old it is a vast fortune.

He is very excited about scaling up and making more next season. I told him it is up to him to get on me about splitting, we have all winter. Need to either head out on the property and scrounge up some wood to split or get a wood service to drop off some logs. Stay tuned for year 2!!

Awesome work! Instilling an entrepreneural/small business mindset in a kid that age is an incredibly valuable thing to do. Infinity more important than anything he’ll learn in government “schools”.
