Local firewood auction every week here in my neck of the woods. Needed some saw parts which is right next door so I strolled over. Couple of pics. About 10 loads of various sizes and types of wood. Anywhere from $50-$150 per load.

If you win it, will they deliver it? Or do you have to unload their truck into your truck?

As far as delivery the first 10 miles are free. After that you pay mileage which is usually $2.00 per mile. If I buy I load it in my truck. The seller helps unload. I bought this load today but only because it was dry locust with a little bit of dry elm.

Thats pretty cool. So a lot of folks like us will bring loads of wood to sell? How often is the auction? What seems to bring the best prices? Thanks for sharing

In North East Indiana there are weekly hay and wood sales at various places. Amish are both producers and consumers of this and have kept it going via their lifestyles.

    # of loads varies as well as price. Dry wood always brings a premium and the colder the temps the higher the price. The other year when we had snow on the ground for weeks I saw pick-up loads going for around $150. :jaw: One guy is just bringing in green wood to sell and does pretty well.

My FIL tried selling a load at Belleville.
He wasn't to enthused with the sale. Too many miles for the small amount of profit.

I never have but I have a 1/2 stacked waiting for the big blizzard to be predicted and then I might take it. I do better going with an empty truck and coming home loaded.:makeitrain"

I'm in East Berlin. The auction is in Shippensburg. There are several auctions in Lancaster that have hay/firewood auctions.

He is probably the same guy that brings in green as grass hay bales in the summer that will rot/mold/start your barn on fire within a few days.
