i know we posted fire pits somewhere, but I couldn't find it with the search engine. Saw this one recently. With so many DYI folks here, I thought this one might generate some interest.
Prop that thing off the ground with a couple bricks, so air can get in the bottom holes, and it will blast off. Not sure if that's good or not, I guess it depends on the outdoor temps and quantity of adult beverages consumed.

That's zakly what its made of semi rims. Put a plate over the hub hole and elevate it a bit. Can get rims for scrap price at tire shops. If a rig gets work done and a rim has a crack it must be replaced before the truck can be returned to service.
I like that idea for cooking...once the paints burned off, you could set a BIG kettle up on top of that thing and the holes in the rim would act like "burners".
Get some red bricks and build a box with a hole in the bottom floor for the flame. You have an instant mini grill, oven, and smoker all in one.
That's what I was thinking for moose camp Still have the camp fire but coffee pot, skillet, rack ...>> would set on it good stability too
I'm sure those two tractor trailer rims welded together would be fairly heavy. Best bet would be to roll it from place to place. It's definitely different and mimics a woodstove with cut out on the side. I like it

Yep.....that would be the cats azz for sure! I can see my big maple kettle sitting right on top of that burner, heck my big 30qt pressure cooker would work on that too! Lee, I'm thinking maybe adding a door to the "firebox" to help regulate fuel consumption if this were to be used for cooking.....it would also allow you to regulate the heat to an extent......
If anything ,,, it might be good for preheating the water up to boiling temp in my mega corn boiler just to save on the pane. It takes forever to get water up to temp,,,, no time to finish corn.
You boil corn on a homemade stove.like that, it's going to do it very fast and it's going to become a focal point of the party, hands down.....lol... I've already decided that I'm going to build one, just gotta get the steel Budd wheels now.....
