The last couple of mornings have been in the upper 50's to low 60's, good cutting weather. So I went after a bunch of hickory and ash logs a tree service dropped a couple of months ago. Two loads down and two to go. Now, the fun thing about it is all the rounds you see were cut without resharpening the chain on my 461. My thanks to huskihl for his instructions on the setup and use of my Super Jolly chain grinder. Without his help it could not have been done. I will admit I did sharpen the chain after the last bunch of hickory!
Nice weather indeed. For a few days, then back up into the hot/humid. Did some cutting and splitting myself this week. Felt good to get back at it.
I have been working on cutting up some dead paper birch and dead elm to put directly into the wood shed. Working by myself takes time to get wood done. I cut down a nice paper birch which may have been around 10" DBH. I have found a way to use a rope as a choker to drag logs out of the woods. All it takes is a hook on my tractor, a shackle and a couple of slipknots. Pics may show how it works. I found some dead elm under the birch and it was nice and dry. I will try to get it all split up tomorrow.
